Q Harper has something every singer desires to build a Brand around. A memorable name. He also has a memorable voice and the ability to completely mesmerize an audience with his singing. A MUSICAL JOURNEY

Quintin Harper was born the 11th of 12 kids. His musical journey began at age 5 when he started singing with his family’s Gospel group, “The Sensational Harper Singers”. The 9 years that they sang together at Greater Grace Church in Detroit and numerous churches throughout the Midwest and South gave him his singing foundation.

All throughout this period, Q received in-home vocal training from his dad who was a professional singer and friend of the great Sam Cooke. That private mentorship served him well. Other formal training came from performing with the Jazz Band at Finney High School.

In his early 20s, Q paired-up with his sister, Jacqueline, to form a duet and they toured together for 5 years. Two special highlights include appearances in the production, “Motown Gospel Apollo”, and also on the “Super Singer” contest televised live by WDIV-TV to and audience of 300,000 people for the 4th of July Fireworks Show.

But while Q’s roots lay in Gospel, R&B and Soul music was slowly transforming him into the singer he is today.

Q has performed at notable venues like Campus Martius Park, Hart Plaza, Chene Park Amphitheatre, the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago, and the Atlanta Convention Center. He has opened for renowned singers like Frankie Beverly & Maze, Babyface, Christopher Williams, War, Ralph Tresvant, and Penny Wells. And he has appeared in publications like The Detroit Free Press, The Michigan Chronicle, Hour Detroit Magazine, and BLAC Detroit Magazine.

But despite all his performances and all his publicity, Q holds one particular moment as the most meaningful of all, singing for a group of elderly residents at a convalescent home.

Q is known for writing “relationship” songs with lyrics that everyone can identify with. His lyrics celebrate love, deal with personal issues and inspire everyone to cherish romance. Here’s how he describes his music.
