- Published in New Music Reviews
We'd like to introduce you to Daisy Hicks' latest hit bound project, "French Cafe", with hot remixes on Daisy Hicks Music.
English-born, Aussie-raised singer-songwriter Daisy Hicks has reached new heights with her first single “French Café” from her new album. Daisy’s new jazz-inspired single truly evokes nostalgia, love, heartbreak and takes the listener on a beautiful visual journey to the romantic streets of Paris…
Being the daughter of legendary jazz drummer Tony Hicks and related to international recording artist Chris Rea, it’s no surprise Hicks was going to sing! After being classically trained and beginning her career in jazz, Daisy decided to deviate from her roots and explore her musical horizons. By the age of 19 Hicks had been signed by Concept Music, with whom she released her debut album ‘Mistress’. The album broke in the UK, Japan and European markets with radio play on the likes of KISS, Radio 1 and Capitol.
Hicks didn’t stop there and has collaborated internationally, writing with Aron Friedman (Backstreet Boys,Take That), Stefan Örn (co-wrote 2011 Eurovision winner, Anders Bagge, Westlife), Jeff Franzel (Josh Groban, Taylor Dayne), Malcolm Maddock (James Brown, Lionel Ritchie) and worked with producers Matt Fell (multi-CMAA award winner, Sara Storer, Shane Nicholson), Tim Laws (Daryl Hall, Gabrielle, Lighthouse Family) and Pete Craigie (Billy Ocean, Seth Lakeman) to name a few.
Daisy’s crystal-clear vocals that soar above the music have been played almost everywhere you can think of, including thousands of shops, bars and airlines around the globe and her track So Much More Than Love featured on the hit US TV series ‘Pretty Little Liars’.
Daisy’s music also lends itself to the electronic/dance genre where she has worked with some leading DJs and production teams in the UK and Europe. Her track “Million Years” had remixes by German DJ legends Bodybangers, the UK’s Almighty and LA-based High Society and her track “Electric Love” was remixed by UK-based 7th Heaven, Steve More, Swedish EDM duo Princess and Mr. Tom and by the Bodybangers. Both tracks gained massive support with DJs around the world!
Daisy’s new laid back jazzy style was recorded on Elton John’s old piano from his house in Beverly Hills that now resides in Curtis Schwartz’ Berry House Studios (Stacey Kent). Having lost her dad 10 years ago to lung cancer, Hicks found the recording process particularly emotional as her father had recorded at Berry House Studios on many occasions.
“French Café” - written by Daisy comes with 3 mixes - the first by Met Life (Jon Pearn and Michael Gray), the St. Tropez mix (Aron Friedman) and the Original version (Curtis Schwartz) all deliver her stunning vocals and illustrate Daisy’s song writing prowess. Available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and major digital music outlets January 2017.
