"It's amazing how fast 30+ years in the music industry can blow right past you!", MISTA Stylz humbly boasts about his journey. "It seems like just yesterday when I was discovered out in Phoenix, Arizona (My former hometown) by the late great FRESH KID ICE aka "CHINAMAN" of the 2 LIVE CREW." "Get Real", "Get A Grip" & "Trim Hunter", got the ball rolling for Marvelous JC and a duet with CECE PENISTON ("Give It All U Gott", a B-Side Single for the mega Dance Remix, "I Can't Take The Power"), were the beginnings of a very nice run for MISTA Stylz, as both an Artist and as an executive in the business.
After an RIAA certified Gold & Platinum sales run of over 2 million sold as STYLZ & The J.I.Z, MISTA Stylz got his first Major Label "Executive" opportunities with both Gasoline Alley/MCA & LaFace Records respectively, spawning such Singles as "Smack It Up (Flip It - Rub It Down)", "Get Ready, Here It Comes (The Choo-Choo Train)" & "Mybabydaddy" (B-Rock & The Bizz) to name just a few. "Jerk, Baby Jerk", a duet with The Jerky Boys, "Show Me Da Money" from the New Line Cinema film, "The Player's Club" & "Raize Da Roof (Push It Up - Call It What U Want)", would take Stylz's sales numbers beyond the 7 million mark! Then, to his credit, MISTA Stylz would garner production credit on the RIAA Certified Double-Platinum Album, "Thugs Are Us" - Trick Daddy, for his productiin/executive role of the song, "N Word".
"I've been truly blessed to have remained somewhat relevant throughout the years, with all the generational changes and changes in the industry, in general", says MISTA Stylz. "I guess my love for the music, along with accepting & adapting to all that's evolved, industry-wise, in the past 20+ years, has kept me in position to potentially make yet another impact with the re-release of "Wall 2 Wall Party". I guess I've managed to hang around long enough to be somewhat forgotten by the older generation of DJ's, yet seemingly new enough to be embraced yet again by the "newbies", that I actually am a new act all over again!", laughs Stylz.
